Chroma Schule für Musik und Tanz
From Frankfurt, we drive up to the Kassel region of Germany, for a lecture concert at the Chroma School for Music and Dance.
Most adult Germans speak English quite well, but since this audience will include younger children, the lecture will be in German. Our singer, Melinda Paulsen, speaks German fluently, and our violist, Marika Fischer Hoyt, speaks conversational German, so we hope to be able to communicate well with these young musicians.
The presentation will focus on describing and demonstrating those elements which characterize music from Germany, the United States, as well as France and Spain. In addition to the works already performed in Nieder-Olm and Frankfurt, we will perform excerpts from the Debussy staring quartet, and L’Oración del Torero (Bullfighter’s Prayer) by Turina.
You can read the description of this event on the ‘Events’ page of the school website here.
We are very grateful to Dane County Board Supervisor Chuck Erickson and the Kassel-Dane Sister County Task Force for their support, including a generous contribution to cover our transportation expenses up to Kassel. We look forward to getting to know this beautiful region of the country.
